Highlights
When I left UVM with my degree in Elementary Ed in Dec 1972 I began teaching Outdoor Environmental Ed. My 40-year career as "Mrs. Fish" of the Mr. and Mrs. Fish Marine Education Program began in 1978 after getting a second degree in Marine Biology. My husband and I costumed ourselves as sea creatures and made the ocean come to life for 1,000's of children all over the world. We worked in over 20 different countries and 30 different states bringing our unique brand of teaching to rural schools from Scotland, to the Turks and Caicos Islands to Jakarta, Indonesia. Little did I dream when I left campus where my Education degree would take me.
Favorite UVM Memories
Walking up the hill on winter evenings to Speech class and getting to know the constellations surrounding Orion. Turned it into my AV speech. Even though I was terrified it was an amazing speech. 15 years later I was on stage in the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in front of 2500 Elementary School students helping them solve an ocean mystery completely comfortable in my role as "Mrs. Fish". There always has to be a first time. Thanks for "forcing" me to take speech!
One Thing to Share?
I never did teach "how to play the recorder", but I enjoyed that 8 o'clock class and was glad to be able to squeak out a few tunes.
