Dear friends of UVM,

From my home to yours, I hope that this issue of IMPACT finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.

For months now, many of you—of us—have been challenged by the toll of uncertainty, isolation, loss, and other hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, in the past few weeks, the murder of George Floyd has inspired people across the country, from all walks of life, to commit themselves anew to the struggle for racial justice and equality. Throughout these uncertain days, you have never stopped stepping forward to support your communities in ways both large and small. These daily acts of generosity and passion are so heartening to see, and they speak volumes about the strength and spirit of the UVM family.

Please know that the University is here for you today, tomorrow, and always. We are here discovering, innovating, healing, and creating in service to our society as a public good. Most important of all, we are here educating the leaders of tomorrow who will guide us through whatever challenges and chapters come next. Knowing our students as I do, I trust that we will be in good hands.

Thank you for all that you have done—and will continue to do—to make UVM the amazing place it is. We need one another more now than ever before!
