Rally Cat’s Cupboard

A recent study has revealed that one in five UVM students struggle with food insecurity as they complete their degrees. In January 2020, the UVM Student Government Association launched Rally Cat’s Cupboard, a campus food pantry open to all students, to address students’ growing needs around consistent access to healthy food. With a lead gift from Michele ’72 and Martin Cohen, UVM donors are helping to put more items like fresh eggs, local produce, pasta, canned goods, and prepared foods on the shelves to combat student hunger.

H. Lawrence McCrorey Gallery of Multicultural Art

The H. Lawrence McCrorey Multicultural Library Collection & Gallery Fund was established in 1994, thanks to gifts from many generous donors, in honor of Professor McCrorey’s critical role in the fight against racism during his 27 years at UVM. The fund supports the purchase of library materials that provide multicultural perspectives in all disciplines, including displays in a gallery named for McCrorey. Located in the Howe Library’s popular first-floor study area, the gallery contains a rotating selection of multi-media artworks by contemporary artists of color.

Burack Hillel Center

In August 2020, UVM’s Burack Hillel Center celebrated its one-year anniversary in its new location at 439 College Street. Dan ’55 and Carole Burack, along with many other generous donors, have helped provide Jewish students at UVM with the community and connection they need during a year of unprecedented challenges. Even amid the pandemic, the Center’s new building has allowed for the virtual celebration of High Holidays and the distribution of hundreds of Shabbat meal kits each week to community pods of 4-6 students.

Catamount Challenge 2020

Each fall, UVM student-athletes engage in some friendly competition off the field during UVM Athletics’ annual fundraising campaign, the Catamount Challenge. In 2020, the students overshot their goal (in a good way) and broke previous records for both fundraising and number of donors, bringing in over $275,000 in support of their respective teams. The Swimming and Diving team came away with the most overall donors, and Men’s Lacrosse raised the most funds to benefit their program. The hard work of both teams was rewarded with prize money from the UVM Foundation. Go, Cats, Go!
