"I was fortunate to pursue my UVM education alongside my father as he spent his UVM career striving to make the campus a better place for all students to learn and thrive. Now I have the opportunity to honor his legacy through the H. Lawrence McCrorey Endowment and the HLM Gallery at the Howe Library, both of which support and establish a more socially just, richly diverse, and inclusive campus community."
LESLIE McCROREY WELLS ’98 G’06
Leslie earned a BA in education and an MA in history at UVM. She is co-owner of Burlington restaurants Pizzeria Verita, Trattoria Delia, and Sotto Enoteca, and she is a tireless community leader working to advance environmental, social, and racial justice causes. In addition to two McCrorey gift funds, she supports the Mosaic Center for Students of Color and the Fleming Museum, also serving on the Fleming’s board of advisors.
Her father, Larry McCrorey HON’94, was an award-winning faculty member in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics from 1966 to 1995. He is remembered as one of the university’s most respected and beloved professors. The H. Lawrence McCrorey Endowment, established in 2021, honors his distinguished legacy at UVM and provides funding for campus programming focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
"For me, deciding to give back to UVM was easy. I was fortunate and benefitted from a scholarship when I attended UVM. When I graduated, I was determined to make a difference in other students’ lives if ever given the chance. I believe in the future of UVM and in helping the next generation of students."
MICHAEL BREAZZANO ’09
