RICHARD ADER ’63

Richard majored in banking and finance and was a varsity member of the men’s basketball team. He was inducted into the UVM Athletics Hall of Fame in 2017. He is the CEO and Managing Partner of U.S. Realty Advisors and author of the book How to Rally: Wisdom from a Life Spent Beating the Odds. He and his wife Pamela have been longtime supporters of initiatives across campus. Most notably, they have endowed a Green & Gold Professorship and established an endowment in Holocaust Studies, and made lead gifts in support of Billings Library, UVM Alumni House, and the Athletics Facility Project. Richard serves as chair of the College of Arts & Sciences Board of Advisors, and he has served as a member of the UVM Foundation Board of Directors. He continues to serve on the Foundation Leadership Council and the Foundation Finance & Investment Committee. The Ira Allen Society recognizes people like the Aders for being among the University of Vermont’s most generous donors.

SUMANA SERCHAN ’08

Sumana majored in natural resources at UVM and earned a master’s degree in environmental management from Yale. She now works for the Vermont Land Trust, helping to protect and conserve local farmland and forestland. Sumana supports all facets of student success in the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources, including scholarship, internship, and student enrichment funds. The Green Mountain Circle honors and encourages consistent giving to the University of Vermont and celebrates the spirit of philanthropy in each of our loyal alumni, parents, and friends.
