Scholarships are powerful.
By investing in scholarships, donors tell recipients that they are valued and important members of the UVM community. Scholarships are a donor’s way of saying, “you belong here” and “I believe in you.” For many students, these messages are just as powerful as the financial benefit they receive.
To date, UVM donors have given more than $23 million to support undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships as part of the SOAR Initiative. In the past decade, UVM alumni, family, and friends have created more than 240 new permanently endowed funds that will support thousands of learners for generations to come.
Scholarships are powerful not only for the students who benefit, but for the donors who give as well. The videos below offer a glimpse of why this is.
