Fleming Museum of Art
The Fleming Museum of Art, which has been closed to visitors since March, has joined many art institutions across the globe in going digital with the launch of “Fleming From Home,” a new site that makes available a selection of new and archived videos from past exhibitions, programs, and events. Thanks to gifts from the 1675 Foundation, Eugene ’50 and Joan Kalkin, and James ’66 and Judy Pizzagalli, visitors can experience everything from Tibetan sand mandalas to Edward Hopper to the sounds of the digeridoo. You can even peruse their newest exhibition, Let’s Have a Ball! Wood Gaylor and the New York Art Scene, 1913-1926.
Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources
This summer students will apply the knowledge and skills they have gained in the classroom as they participate in remote-only internships and research experiences made possible by donors to the Rubenstein School of Environment and Natural Resources Internship Fund. Internships allow students to make connections to professionals in their fields, explore career interests, and build relevant skill sets that will prepare them for career success. From working in the alternative energy sector to analyzing samples from Lake Champlain, this fund gives students the practical, real-life experience they will need after graduation.
UVM Recital Hall
Matthew Kulas ’99 recently led an effort with fellow Catamount Singers alumni to name a seat in the UVM Recital Hall in honor of a beloved professor in the Department of Music, David Neiweem. The Recital Hall is currently undergoing a transformational renovation that includes upgraded lighting and acoustical treatments, refurbished seating, and a 4,550 square-foot addition with performance support areas, backstage storage, and new practice studios. In support of the renovations, patrons have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to name a seat for themselves or a loved one with a gift to the Recital Hall Expansion and Renovation Fund.

Gund Institute for Environment
The Gund Institute for Environment launched the COVID-19 Rapid Research Fund, which provided UVM scholars with timely start-up funds for new research that advances our understanding of the root causes, lessons, and effects of the pandemic on society and the environment. Support from the fund is helping scholars to rapidly respond to federal research agencies and policy leaders through six new research projects. “As an environmental institute that tackles urgent global issues, we need to play our role,” says Director and Gund Professor Taylor Ricketts. “That role is to understand the causes and consequences of the pandemic so that we can avoid and manage them better in the future.”
